A haiku (“hi-koo”) is a poem with three lines.

The first line and the third line have five syllables.

The middle line has seven syllables

Tiny red tiger

Purring like a motorbike

Revving on my lap.

Sleeping cat’s eyelids,

paws and whiskers twitch as she

Dreams of chasing skinks

* * *

Three in the morning

Deep sleep interrupted by

Cat’s breakfast demands
